Position Title: Production Supervisor
Department: Contract Manufacturing Services (CMS)
Reports to: Production Manager
Position Summary
Manages the day-to-day CMS production operation ensuring that jobs are completed ensuring cost, quality and delivery while maintaining a safe work environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Execute the CMS production schedule for optimum production efficiency and on-time delivery.
- Direct the efficient and responsive production of parts to print.
- Coordinate training of personnel in methods of operating processes and equipment. Build and motivate a well-functioning team by selecting, training, and facilitating for production aptitude, technical expertise, and leadership/interpersonal skills.
- Promote communication for improved multi-shift operations.
- Review daily machine and personnel efficiency for items needing improvement/training. Document corrective action if necessary.
- Work with sales to coordinate time on equipment and technical staff for new product testing/development.
- Work with engineering on the production readiness of new projects.
- Assure information and materials are staged prior to production start.
- Improve shop floor workflow and existing laser processes.
- Work with maintenance and manufacturing engineering to reduce machine downtime and make improvements to processes/equipment to improve output.
- Find solutions to equipment/technical/personnel problems on the production floor; assist in setting up complex difficult jobs.
- Promote continuous improvement.
- Develop/implement growth and development plans for personnel.
- Perform other tasks as directed by the Manager.
Hiring Qualifications
- Minimum two-year technical degree, or equivalent experience, four-year technical degree desired.
- Minimum of 2 years industrial experience
- Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and purchase agreements/orders.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, written communication, and computer skills
- Good understanding of laser processing methods, material science, CNC programming, dimensional tolerancing
- Familiar with lean principles (value stream mapping, Kaizen, etc.)
Physical Demands
- Extended hours sitting & viewing a computer screen.
- Repetitive hand/wrist movements.
- Standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling occurs continuously and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
