Production Supervisor

Position Title: Production Supervisor
Department: Contract Manufacturing Services (CMS)
Reports to: Production Manager

Position Summary 

Manages the day-to-day CMS production operation ensuring that jobs are completed ensuring cost, quality and delivery while maintaining a safe work environment.

Primary Responsibilities 

  1. Execute the CMS production schedule for optimum production efficiency and on-time delivery.
  2. Direct the efficient and responsive production of parts to print. 
  3. Coordinate training of personnel in methods of operating processes and equipment.  Build and motivate a well-functioning team by selecting, training, and facilitating for production aptitude, technical expertise, and leadership/interpersonal skills.
  4. Promote communication for improved multi-shift operations.
  5. Review daily machine and personnel efficiency for items needing improvement/training.  Document corrective action if necessary.
  6. Work with sales to coordinate time on equipment and technical staff for new product testing/development.
  7. Work with engineering on the production readiness of new projects.
  8. Assure information and materials are staged prior to production start.
  9. Improve shop floor workflow and existing laser processes.
  10. Work with maintenance and manufacturing engineering to reduce machine downtime and make improvements to processes/equipment to improve output.
  11. Find solutions to equipment/technical/personnel problems on the production floor; assist in setting up complex difficult jobs.
  12. Promote continuous improvement.
  13. Develop/implement growth and development plans for personnel.
  14. Perform other tasks as directed by the Manager.

Hiring Qualifications

  • Minimum two-year technical degree, or equivalent experience, four-year technical degree desired.
  • Minimum of 2 years industrial experience
  • Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and purchase agreements/orders.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, written communication, and computer skills
  • Good understanding of laser processing methods, material science, CNC programming, dimensional tolerancing
  • Familiar with lean principles (value stream mapping, Kaizen, etc.)

Physical Demands

  • Extended hours sitting & viewing a computer screen. 
  • Repetitive hand/wrist movements. 
  • Standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling occurs continuously and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
